Welcome rain will help crops grow
The weather station reported that Montevideo received 0.45-inch of rain on Sunday, June 21.
It seemed like a lot more when everything got drenched prior to the Fiesta Parade in town.
Looking at a rain gauge, 0.45-inch doesn't seem like much rain. When you think of it in terms of 100 acres, though, 0.45-inch rain is 1,221,930 gallons. An inch of rain on 100 acres is 2,715,400 gallons.
Montevideo has now had 1.82-inch rain in June. Timely rains will be needed to keep the corn, soybeans, sugarbeets, edible beans and alfalfa growing.
